The origami crane represents a work of art that is hand made by its creator (the student). But unlike the common paper crane, the crane is a mechanical plane, which illustrate’s Makers Academy’s philosophy to amalgamate the soft (Arts) and with the hard (Tech/Engineering).

The crane is above the box and frame to represent “out of the box” creations that are not bounded. The box presents Makers Academy. We want to help nurture the bird to be able to fly away one day (graduation) without being constrained by “boxes and frames”.

Makers Academy’s curriculum is gender-neutral and challenges conventional gender stereotypes and biases, like girls are not good with coding and engineering, and boys are not good with art. Every term will have a physical hands-on project that could be part tech and part art. (Eg Coding, Mobile apps, Microcontrollers, IoT, AI, Motors, Lights, Sensors, Sewn fabric, 3D prints, Laser-cut wood, cardboard, molded silicone etc)
